“Woodland Hills Police Chase” pedestrian victim identified as Dean William Greenwalt of Woodland Hills

Written by Girard on October 1, 2009 - 2 Comments
Categories: In The News

Somehow I missed this the other day, and even called the LAPD Media Relations Department to find out if the victim had been identified, and they didn’t have the info.  But, seems like Daily News eventually got it.  It’s funny when you try to deal with LA’s government and law enforcement entities, as many times you have more information than they do and have to ‘fill them in.’

Authorities on Monday identified a pedestrian who was killed during a CHP pursuit of a driver who refused to pull over for a freeway traffic violation and exchanged gunfire with officers during a pursuit that ended on a surface street.Assistant Coroner Ed Winter said the victim was Dean William Greenwalt, 66, of Woodland Hills.

Seems like Mr. Greenwalt was a good man who ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time.  Probably not the time to get political about the police chase loving culture here in Los Angeles, but Mr. Greenwalt lost his life to precisely that.

I came across comments from friends and family members of Mr. Greenwalt attached to this article in the Pasadena Star-News.  Looks like Daily News and the Pasadena paper use the same comment engine, and I’ll post a few of the comments about Mr. Greenwalt after the jump, follow the links to the articles to see more.

Only Twelve Days Left to Enjoy Crate & Barrel’s Fall Upholstery Sale!

Written by Girard on October 1, 2009 - 0 Comments

Ok, perhaps in these challenging economic times you are not exactly thinking about refurnishing your home with fine custom upholstered pieces.  But every year, Crate & Barrel has a great in store sale which features 25% off any custom upholstered furniture item.  To my knowledge this is an in store event only, which should make you extremely thankful that we have a Crate & Barrel here in Woodland Hills that offers the company’s “Furniture Collection.”

The Monolith: Crate & Barrel Woodland Hills

The Monolith: Crate & Barrel Woodland Hills

I remember being so happy when Crate & Barrel opened this store last November (at the corner of Victory & Topanga Canyon Blvd).  I am indeed a big fan of Crate & Barrel, and had to drive all the way to Beverly Hills a few times to look at and buy furniture items, because until then it was the closest store with the Furniture Collection.  Granted, there is a great deal of product duplication between this store and the standard C&B inside the Westfield Topanga Plaza mall, but as I said, this one has the glorious Furniture Collection.

Anyways, you can learn more about the Fall Upholstery sale here – and remember, the savings end October 12th! All this shilling and I don’t even get a commission!  Man, I wasn’t paying attention when I took that picture of the store the other day and got a smashed up hoopty in the foreground.  Sorry C&B, I know that’s not how your customers typically roll!

El Camino Real Conquistadores Start Season 3-0

While I am not a big follower of high school football in the valley, I came across this article in the San Fernando Sun chronicling the great 3-0 start of Woodland Hills’ own El Camino Real Consquistadores season.  Good luck against Reseda this Friday!  Hopefully the Conquistadores will continue to have a great season!
