Tried The Signature Japanese Curry and Chicken Cutlet Dish at Curry Up Cafe
Wow, so last Wednesday while it was frigidly cold and windy out I wanted to go check out some good food in a nice warm restaurant! So, I headed over to Curry Up Cafe for a nice bite to eat.
After looking over the menu I figured I’d better give their signature Japanese Curry (served ‘homestyle’ with potatoes and carrots) a shot. They have a dish that pairs up that curry with a breaded chicken cutlet, so that was my selection. I decided to be reckless and get it spicy and roll the dice at the chance of it being insanely hot. I also got one of their tacos – the Hawaiian Kalua Pork Taco – because I wanted to check them out, too.
First, I must say I’m a pork lover. Because of this, I will never make it to paradise with Muhammed Atta. Okay, tasteless joke. I must say that the taco was delicious – I slathered it up with some hot sauce too – so it was both explosive and delicious.
Now, for the curry and chicken cutlet. AWESOME. It’s such a simple dish, but it’s great. Especially when prepared spicy. Bite after bite was amazing. The crunchy texture of the breading on the chicken breast, the curry infused zing of the sauce, the sweetness of some raisins they provide at the table to mix in. It was great. They had a little video montage of their dishes playing on a monitor in the restaurant, and I saw many interesting things to try next time.
Keep up the good work, Chris!
