Had no idea this place had an interesting history. Sad this place was torn down. I would like to have seen this rejuvenated as a music venue – we need it!

My husband and I became stockholders to raise money for the VMTheater, the cheapest and what we could afford, was @200.00, I think. With that stock we were given four tickets per performance and the privilege of leaving our car to be parked and then brought to us. I was so happy with the whole arrangement and gleefully left our very ordinary Buick with the valet and saw each and every musical performance. How sad it was to see VMT fail. As to Gordon Murley, we were also members of the Woodland Hills Homeowners Assoc. and after the earthquake my prior opinion of him regarding his self aggrandized needs were set in concrete. He was, and, I guess still is, the King of Woodland Hills. I know he has done good stuff, and I also know he has caused pain.

Great sleuthing Girard!!! Yes I do remember this theatre, we called it theatre in the round. I think I saw the Byrds there and a couple musicals. I was saddened when it was sold to become a Jahovah’s Hall. Wow a walk down memory lane, Thanks Girard…..

Every concert they had there, I saw it for free. I could sneak in there anytime. Bad security set up! Also, watched it being built. It was called chalk hill.

I have many great memories of the Valley Music Theater. My parents had season tickets, and took all four of us kids to many performances. Saw “Bye-Bye, Birdie” among other shows. I think my sister’s early acting ambitions were stoked by these live performances!

I walked through the fenced off area just last week. Very sad. Many good memories. I was very troubled learn that it was sold from the JW’s to greedy builders who then ran out of money only after destroying a unique, historical structure. I managed to find a chunk of the white, chaulky structure…cleaned it up a bit and plan to keep it for sentimental reasons. Very sad…
