Categories: Crime, Public Service Announcements

I got a rather frightening alert through the LAPD/Nixle system just a few moments ago:

Alert Message has been issued by the LAPD – Topanga Area.

Wednesday December 23, 2009 20:40 PM PST

Armed robber in Woodland Hills.

Five armed robberies have occured at businesses in Woodland Hills within the past month, mostly along Ventura Boulevard and Vanowen.  The suspect is described as a male white, 5′5″ to 5′9″ tall, 130 to 150 lbs, 40 to 50 years, brown hair, very blue eyes, wearing a fake beard and mustache (very dark colored).  Suspect is armed with a handgun and has stolen money from various business’ cash registers at gunpoint.  If seen, please contact the Topanga Watch Commander at (818) 756-4800.

Something like this just goes to show you how much crime the mainstream media misses in its local coverage.  I haven’t read about a single armed robbery of a business in Woodland Hills this month in any news source, but obviously they are happening.  Disturbing.

A Healthy Hump Day At Whole Foods In Woodland Hills

Written by Girard on December 23, 2009 - 0 Comments

$5.99/lb Hot Bar/Salad Bar

$5.99/lb Hot Bar/Salad Bar (Wednesdays Only)

As per yesterday’s post, I dropped by Whole Foods this evening for some hot bar action.  Our Whole Foods’ salad/bar and hot bar is small by comparison to some of chains larger stores.  If you ever have a chance to check out the one on Lincoln Blvd in Venice, I highly suggest you do.  It will blow your mind.

That being said, I snapped the above shot of the promotional sign, encouraging one and all to have a healthy hump day – back by popular demand.  I also noticed that they’ve expanded the meat-based entree offerings.  I used to jokingly call this the ‘high carb bar’ – however, it looks like they’re working on that.

Oh, and I also picked up a package of their Caribbean Fruit & Nut Mix.  It’s awesome, and one of my guilty (or guiltless?) pleasures.  It’s full of wonderful fruits and nuts, including the heavenly Brazil Nut.  Yes!
