For some insane and unknown reason I was driving around town at 8:50AM this morning when I noticed huge lines at the front and back entrances to Crate & Barrel.  After a quick phone call to the store, I learned they are having a big sale on all seasonal merchandise (50% off).  Also, when I got home I was able to check my e-mail and see this:

I’m glad to see there are so many other C&B fans in Woodland Hills!

Strolling Down Candy Cane Lane In Woodland Hills On Christmas Eve

Written by Girard on December 26, 2009 - 3 Comments
Categories: Public Service Announcements

I had intended  to post this message yesterday, but unfortunately had to deal with a server RAID failure all day.  But now that all is back up and running, so I’m finally able to post my pictures from Candy Cane Lane in Woodland Hills.  This event has been going on for many, many years I am told.  In a recent LA Times article asking readers to submit what Los Angeles homes showed the most Christmas spirit, a commenter wrote:

By far, the greatest neighborhood to view house after house of Christmas lights GALORE is Candy Cane Lane (aka Candle Light Lane) in Woodland Hills, CA. This neighborhood turns into Christmas Art with 4 long streets of decorative lights, Christmas carolers, and Double Decker busses filled with those in the Christmas spirit. Candy Cane Lane is off of the 101 Freeway at Winnetka. It is between Winnetka Avenue and Corbin Avenue; and within Ventura Boulevard and Oxnard Street. Enjoy this neighborhood of Art.

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays! Let’s all be safe!

You should also see a very good article in the Daily News last week about Candy Cane Lane.

Additionally, I visited Candy Cane Lane after having a wonderful prix fixe Christmas Eve dinner at Pinot Bistro in Studio City.  That’s becoming something of a Christmas Eve tradition for me, and I absolutely love the place, their holiday menu, and the atmosphere.  I’m not exactly sure when Candy Cane Lane ends, but I suspect it’ll be around for at least a few more days.  Every night that I’ve driven by there has been quite a long line of cars.  Seems like the unofficial ‘entrance’ is at Winnetka Avenue and Oxnard St.

Without further adieu, Candy Cane Lane 2009 pictures:
