Strolling Down Candy Cane Lane In Woodland Hills On Christmas Eve
I had intended to post this message yesterday, but unfortunately had to deal with a server RAID failure all day. But now that all is back up and running, so I’m finally able to post my pictures from Candy Cane Lane in Woodland Hills. This event has been going on for many, many years I am told. In a recent LA Times article asking readers to submit what Los Angeles homes showed the most Christmas spirit, a commenter wrote:

LAPD Topanga Issues Bulletin Regarding Multiple Armed Robberies On Ventura Blvd In Woodland Hills

Something like this just goes to show you how much crime the mainstream media misses in its local coverage. I haven’t read about a single armed robbery of a business in Woodland Hills this month in any news source, but obviously they are happening. Disturbing.

A Healthy Hump Day At Whole Foods In Woodland Hills
As per yesterday’s post, I dropped by Whole Foods this evening for some hot bar action. Our Whole Foods’ salad/bar and hot bar is small by comparison to some of chains larger stores. If you ever have a chance to check out the one on Lincoln Blvd in Venice, I highly suggest you do. It will blow your mind.
That being said, I snapped the above shot of the promotional sign, encouraging one and all to have a healthy hump day – back by popular demand. I also noticed that they’ve expanded the meat-based entree offerings. I used to jokingly call this the ‘high carb bar’ – however, it looks like they’re working on that.
Oh, and I also picked up a package of their Caribbean Fruit & Nut Mix. It’s awesome, and one of my guilty (or guiltless?) pleasures. It’s full of wonderful fruits and nuts, including the heavenly Brazil Nut. Yes!

Whole Foods Woodland Hills Brings Back The $5.99/lb Hot Bar/Salad Bar – Possibly For Good!
Cheryl D. commented last week:
I went to Whole Foods today (December 16th), and they’re back to offering $5.99/lb on Wednesdays! I don’t know for how long though!
While this brought much teary eyed excitement to me, I wanted to wait to post it until I had time to either stop by and verify the dates, see it on their Twitter (@wfwoodlandhills), or call up Whole Foods and ask. Well, today I called up an was pleasantly surprised to learn that ‘hopefully’ this will be an indefinite, A/K/A, permanent special price every Wednesday.
All I can say is “wow” – this must have been an extremely successful pricing promotion for Whole Foods. It’s nice to see them hustling for some business.

Masked Gunmen Rob Rappers In Woodland Hills
MyFox11 writes:
Woodland Hills – Two gunmen wearing masks and gloves robbed some people at a townhouse north of Woodland Hills, police said today.
The home invasion robbery occurred in the 500 block of Como Circle around 10:10 p.m. Monday, said Sgt. Thomas Mason of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Topanga Station.
When police arrived, two victims were on the roof, fearing the robbers were still in the townhouse, Mason said, but police searched the home and determined they were gone.
The victims were robbed while in a rap studio in the basement of the home, Mason said.
The robbers, who were armed with handguns, took still camera equipment from a photographer who was there to take pictures, along with other items, Mason said. No injuries were reported.
I really hope that this is an isolated incident and that Woodland Hills remains safe for the members of the small rap community that calls our area their home.

You should also see a very good article in the Daily News last week about Candy Cane Lane.
Additionally, I visited Candy Cane Lane after having a wonderful prix fixe Christmas Eve dinner at Pinot Bistro in Studio City. That’s becoming something of a Christmas Eve tradition for me, and I absolutely love the place, their holiday menu, and the atmosphere. I’m not exactly sure when Candy Cane Lane ends, but I suspect it’ll be around for at least a few more days. Every night that I’ve driven by there has been quite a long line of cars. Seems like the unofficial ‘entrance’ is at Winnetka Avenue and Oxnard St.
