Two Arrests Made In Michael Conoscenti Murder Case, More To Come?
In a long response to the fact that I re-posted Courtney Conoscenti’s praise of the LAPD, either her or a friend of hers (probably both) writes (abridged version):
Thank you Mr. Hills of Woodland for ruining everything because after I wrote the article I wrote I realized I probably shouldnt have written what I wrote because its probably not supposed to go public yet because if that were the case It would be public RIGHT? You agree with me Girard correct? So if you feel you need to go and call the detectives to see if “this is in fact true” then you go ahead and ruin things but if you really think the police are going to give you any information on Damiens murder investigation at all or case at all your Delusional. You calling to find out info. is just going to cause problems for myself there going to stop giving me information because I made a mistake and opened my mouth too soon and idiouts like YOU have to go and cause havoc by bugging the detectives when there not going to give you any information because your nobody But im sure you already know there not going to update you.So if the detectives stop informing me because you made a phone call You can best bet im going to make a phone call or two. Im asking you to leave well enough alone take my word for it
Regardless, once arrests have been made in a case, at least that part is public record. So I contacted detective Ammon Williams today to ask about the status of the case. He writes:
We have made two arrests in the Conoscenti case with and are looking at additional suspects in the case. Because we have outstanding suspects and our investigation is still pending I can not release any additional information at this time.Detective Williams

A Few Additional Details From LAFD About Burbank Blvd Condo Fire
In an effort to get more details about yesterday’s fire in Woodland Hills, I sent an e-mail to Brian Humphrey, a spokesman for the LAFD, who works out of Woodland Hills’ Fire Station 84. He pointed me to a Google Group called LAFD_Alert, where LAFD members post “timely notification of newsworthy Fire Department incidents throughout the City of Los Angeles.”
There, Brian had posted the following updates about the event which happened at 22107 Burbank Blvd:
10:39AM: *Structure Fire* 22107 Burbank Bl; MAP 559-J2; FS 84; PRELIM: Fire in (1 unit?) of multistory condominium; NFD; Ch:8,17 @ 10:32 AM -Brian Humphrey###
10:45AM *UPDATE: 22107 Burbank Bl* KNOCKDOWN; 20 FF’s took just 11 min; No injury; Confined to 1 two-story unit; NFD – Brian Humphrey###
11:30AM *UPDATE: 22107 Burbank Bl* FINAL: Man & Woman safely escaped w/1 dog, another dog rescued by LAFD w/chance of survival; NFD – Brian Humphrey###
I was sad to see that there was perhaps an injury to one of the occupants’ dogs, maybe Brian will have more info for me if there is any. I’ll keep you posted.

Yankee Doodle’s Reopens In West Hills As “Y.D.’s”
I picked up this rumor from Twitter today that the Woodland Hills Yankee Doodle’s (a sports bar and grill) that closed Monday April 7, 2008 has been reopened at the former location of the Stargazer on Fallbrook Avenue on the Fallbrook Mall property (6501 Fallbrook Ave) in West Hills. The name of the new place is “Y.D.’s” and I’m told it just opened last Tuesday.
As many of you will remember, there was a Yankee Doodle’s at the southeast corner of Victory Blvd. and Topanga Canyon Blvd. which closed and was razed in 2007 for the construction of Crate & Barrel.
A quick call to Yankee Doodle’s in Santa Monica confirmed this, but the person was quick to point out that they have five different owners (and I assume 5 different locations) and that the Santa Monica location is not really affiliated with the new West Hills location.
Update: I did a more more detailed write up about this a couple days later. See it here.
