Yankee Doodle’s Reopens In West Hills As “Y.D.’s”

I picked up this rumor from Twitter today that the Woodland Hills Yankee Doodle’s (a sports bar and grill) that closed Monday April 7, 2008 has been reopened at the former location of the Stargazer on Fallbrook Avenue on the Fallbrook Mall property (6501 Fallbrook Ave) in West Hills. The name of the new place is “Y.D.’s” and I’m told it just opened last Tuesday.
As many of you will remember, there was a Yankee Doodle’s at the southeast corner of Victory Blvd. and Topanga Canyon Blvd. which closed and was razed in 2007 for the construction of Crate & Barrel.
A quick call to Yankee Doodle’s in Santa Monica confirmed this, but the person was quick to point out that they have five different owners (and I assume 5 different locations) and that the Santa Monica location is not really affiliated with the new West Hills location.

I recently visited the new YD, West Hills. I have to say it is nothing like the old Yankee Doodles, Woodland Hills (which I loved and was a regular). This place had the feel of a cold Banquet Hall to say the least! Was a large, cold Banquet Hall with a bunch of TV’s. The parking was Horrible!! I was there on a Sunday and with all the other business such as Wal-Mart, Kohls, etc. there was NO where to park. The service was terrible, there was no where to sit, the draft beer was warm, the atmosphere was cold, it was nothing like the Yankees of Woodland Hills! I DO NOT recommend this place whatsoever! Save yourself the trouble and watch the game at home!

Yes, it’s not the old Yankees, but the reality is that there is no other true “Sports Bar” in Woodland Hills/West Hills. The Rack is a pool hall, not a sports bar. (Though the food at the Rack is better.) I heard they were going to make some more changes at YD’s, but we’ll see. Parking does suck and the food is…well, let’s just say that they don’t have a chef, only line cooks.
After checking out the new doodles it’s apparent that this will be the first and last time i would ever step foot in there. It sucks, i am sure everyone in the valley was ready for a new bar to hang at but this place will not be one of them. West Hills has always been a nice upscale neighborhood until now. It looks like they should film an episode of locked up at San Quentin. Nothing but dickie pants, aqua net bangs and coronas. It’s only a matter of when someone gets stabbed or shot around this place.
The promoters/owners have made a big mistake by setting the initial presidence of letting these type of thugs to be allowed in. I feel like there should have been a metal detector at the door. Note to INS start scoping out this place along with police to serve warrants and check green cards

Well, like everyone else this place sucks. I guess all we have is The Rack in the West Valley and I will be there watching the Lakers win.
I don’t know what any of you are talking about!!! Yankee Doodles is awesome! The ladies/staff are extremely friendly. The food is typical bar food. They are more than accomodating for special events. And parking is crap anywhere… even at The Rack! At least you can hear the game at Y.D., whereas you can’t at The Rack. To Jim… West Hills hasn’t been a nice upscale neighborhood since Walmart arrived; it has nothing to do with this new bar. In fact, most people that I have seen in the bar are all working professionals in for a good happy hour!!
