It pays dividends to live at the top of a steep hill and own a pair of useless but menacing-looking dogs. Hardly any solicitors!

I get those solicitations all the time. I just tell them, leave the order form and I will pay with a business check since it is a donation. If they say they only take cash then it is not legit. Also one other time, a real young pretty lady try to pitch carpet cleaning. She said she will shampoo the living room carpet for free because the company want to get the word out among the neighnors. I knew it was too good to be true but she was pretty so I talked to her for a while! I googled the company afterward to find out that as they clean your carpet, they are selling their carpet shampoo machine. If the owner doesn't agree, they just stop halfway with their free carpet cleaning!

Too late for me. The nicest couple came by in November selling magazine subscriptions. He had a troubled childhood and was in great program learning sales. He even had his apprentice with him. His boss back in Texas was doing such good work with the under privileged. He had real forms with an address a phone number, refund policy, etc. I've been there before and always refused. It's usually a student earning points for a trip. I thought if he was scamming me he'd take a cash offer and go away. He declined. I wrote a check for a magazine. Took my suspicions to the web and looked up info on the company listed. Nothing! Called the number... generic answering machine. Called the bank... $30 to stop pay a $50 check. The receipt says allow up to 120 days for delivery so there's still hope, right? The company is listed as STRICKLY BUSINESS 1, INC 2601 CARTWRIGHT RD. SUITE D MISSOURI CITY TX 77459
