You can plant your own tree in your yard. LADWP has a program that you can take a short online workshop and order I believe up to 8 trees at no charge.
I’m happy to see upgrades, but I would be vastly more impressed if they would start diverting funds from feel-good stuff like this into real needs, like our actual roads. Mine hasn’t been paved in 30 years.
Pitbullmom, you have to write to Denis Zine directly and request your street to be repaved. Get signatures of all homeowners along the street, state in the petition that the degraded street poses hazards to pedestrians (my street does not have sidewalks and people walk on the street itself).
Two of our neighbors did that for our street, one of them constantly called Zine’s office and harassed them until one of his aide came out to see the condition of the street and approved it for repaving. The project was completed in two weeks after two years of petition and around 30 plus years since last paving! It can be done but somebody has to put in some elbow grease!
