A couples weeks back, when it was raining nearly every day, I decided to stop by Panini Cafe in Woodland Hills again for another delicious breakfast. A reader of one of my previous posts had made a comment that they were not a big fan of the coffee, so I figured it was my obligation to check it out.

As you might imagine, since Panini Cafe is “Mediterranean” themed, the coffee is quite strong. I can see that this would not be for everyone. Thankfully, I am the kind of person that can cream and sugar up any cup of coffee to my satisfaction, so I had no major issues with it.
For breakfast, I decided on the Breakfast Combo - 2 pieces of French Toast, 2 Eggs Any Style, 2 Pieces of Pepper Bacon or Apple Chicken Sausage with Roasted Potatoes or Fresh Fruit Cup – for $10.95. I went with the bacon and scrambled eggs, and additionally threw caution to the wind and added Swiss cheese to the eggs for about a dollar more.
As far as I’m concerned it was a great breakfast. I’m a sucker for French Toast, which I previously checked out at BJ’s, and they also cook up a mean slice at Panini Cafe. The rest of the dish was great, including the bacon, and I’m a particular fan of the roasted potatoes. It’s a great power breakfast for a busy blogger like myself!

Are you on Panini Cafe’s payroll or something?
My boyfriend and I have been twice, and it was…not good. The service was fine, but the food was unimpressive. I went a second time to check it out and it was no better. I know it wasn’t just me, because the 3-4 people I know that have been have made the same comment.
To add insult to injury they protested my Yelp review, and had it removed. Way to be objective.
MissMP, no I just personally like the place. I’d love to hear some other suggestions from you about your favorite local places so I can check them out.
Yeah, they took my Yelp review off too!!! I offered a good review of the food but only gave 3 stars because it was unbelievably smoky in there and I almost had to leave. A prudent thing for management to do would be to post a comment and say that the ventilation had been fixed. As it is, I doubt I’ll go back because of their arrogance of deleting my review. For me, customer service is just as important as the food. It’s too bad because we really need a good breakfast spot in Woodland Hills.
Contrary to your observance that the imbibers of coffee at Panini don’t like it strong, how can you know what you are drinking if you load it with cream and sugar? It was not strong, and totally not begging we take a second cup. I like the place to for any other meal, at least so far. In fact, being an (ugh) vegetarian, I was able to order a breakfast combination that makes your picture here look like “hash house heaven”.

I’ve eaten there three times–twice for lunch and once for dinner. I haven’t had a bad meal there. In fact, I’ve loved every meal I’ve eaten!
Cheryl, yes, I have had nothing but good experiences there. The one thing that is really startling is the service. Everyone there is so eager to make you happy, it’s pretty amazing, actually.
And Dave, I mean, okay I’m sure you are a loyal reader of my site, so please don’t take this the wrong way. But, I mean, if the restaurant has an issue with ’smoke’ one time when you go in because a piece of equipment is broken or malfunctioning, why would you write about that on Yelp?
I mean, obviously it’s a one-time malfunction or breakdown. It’s like ok, if you walk in after a pipe breaks, are you going to write on Yelp “Holy crap this place is always flooded don’t go there!”
I’ve been there I think 4 times now, and never had an issue with smoke. So, if I ran the place and saw your Yelp post saying the places is filled with smoke, I mean, I’d get it removed too.
I have no relationship with the place, but I think sometimes the only people who write on Yelp are people that have a gripe… which makes Yelp a pretty pointless utility.
