Did City Of LA Give Up On Good-Neighborly Lawn Mowing Of Old Fire Station 84?
Looks like they haven’t been around to mow the lawn or trim back the trees at the old Fire Station 84 in a while.

Yipes! We can certainly see how that rain-energized vegetation came to your attention. With a nearly six decade history as a fire station, we can also understand how the property on Canoga Avenue would be seen as a Fire Department responsibility.
Most people are surprised to learn when Neighborhood Firefighters moved to your new Fire Station on Burbank Boulevard in late 2007 (has it been that long?) that formal control of the once pridefully maintained site south of the boulevard was transferred to the Asset Management Division of the City’s Department of General Services (213-922-8500).
While we can’t speak for that agency, we can say that your rightful concerns have been brought to the attention of your community’s LAFD Battalion Chief (818-756-8617), who will seek to work within the City system to have those capable and responsible made aware of and address your concerns forthwith.
I hope this information helps. If you need further assistance or official clarification, please *start* with the phone numbers listed above to determine how that and other City-owned sites are best maintained.

Brian, I figured I’d hear from you! Yep, I indeed figured this was the City’s responsibility and not LAFD at this point, hence the title of the article referring to the City of LA and not LAFD.
Thanks for passing it along!
Our pleasure Sir, and thank you. We appreciate your carefully crafted title, yet wanted to make sure your readers understood that Neighborhood Firefighters have little control and even less say in how that now vacant site – we left on September 17, 2007, is managed.
Please stay safe and be well!

Thank you for the information. I just walked by the building the other day and was wondering if it was available for lease or to buy. If so, I would certainly clean the place up and give it a nice curb appeal.
