Joe Montana Does Interview From Pierce College… About Brett Favre?
Well, in what has to be one of the strangest quasi-local news items I’ve seen in a while, Retired NFL Quarterback and Hall of Famer Joe Montana resurfaced in the media today. Apparently, he was shooting a commercial at Woodland Hills’ Pierce College filming a commercial for Skechers (yesterday?) when he made time to do an interview about Brett Favre.
I can’t remember the last time Joe Montana was relevant, but apparently he said, in essence, that Brett Favre just delays and stalls on his announcements that he will be coming back for another season because he is a lazy old bastard who doesn’t want to go through training camp. I suspect the reason is more likely that Favre wants to put some time between his announcement that he is returning and the last time he completely choked in a huge game – again.
WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. — Joe Montana says he’s confident Brett Favre will be making another comeback — just before the start of the NFL season, like he’s done the last two seasons.
Montana, at Pierce College filming a television commercial, said he believes it’s only a matter of time before Favre returns to play for the Minnesota Vikings, the team he led to the NFC Championship Game last season.
Favre has remained undecided on his plans for the 2010 season.
“He says he’s not sure [about playing] because he doesn’t want to go to training camp. He’s smart,” Montana said. “I’m sure he already has that agreement with them. Nine chances out of 10 they already know and they’ve already had this whole conversation and they should just let everybody know because they know he’s going to come back.
“He knows he’s going to come back, but the reason they don’t say anything is because he doesn’t want to go through training camp,” Montana said. “If he didn’t have to go through training camp, his decision would already be made, but he should know by now going to training camp isn’t going to be hard. They’d never make it hard on him.”
Montana said Favre’s familiarity with the offense and the talent around him will make the transition from Favre’s couch in Kiln, Miss., to the football field seamless, even if Favre comes back in time for the final exhibition game.
“It’s easy once you know an offense and have been there for so many years,” Montana said. “All you really need is a couple quarters in a game and to get hit a couple times to get back in tune. You can get a lot of the other stuff in practices. It’s just getting used to that movement and feel of the game. You can easily do it if you’ve played enough years.”
While Montana, licking his fingers before firing spirals to extras on the set of a Sketchers commercial, said he wishes he could still suit up on Sundays, he said he never considered a comeback after his retirement 15 years ago. He added that he always wished he could have played a couple of more seasons the way Favre has.
“Anyone who has played the game, once you get away from it, you always want to try and find a way to get back,” Montana said. “You wish you were still playing but you know physically, unfortunately, it’s impossible. I can run a 4.5 in the first 20 yards but that’s it.
“I never even thought about coming back after I retired,” he said. “I wished I would have stayed and played a year or two but once you get past that point and retire there was no way I could have done it.”

Morton’s Woodland Hills Puff On The Patio Event This Thursday
As you may have realized, I’ve been a Morton’s loving fiend for the past week or so. I’m sad that I only recently discovered how relaxing and fun the bar there is. I almost went again last night, but I had some work that I really needed to attend to. Last Friday I had the pleasure of meeting their Sales & Marketing Manager Matthew Prince, who was a really friendly and down to Earth guy who is also a Woodland Hills resident.
Matthew gave met the heads up about an event being held at Morton’s this Thursday, March 18th. Morton’s The Steakhouse has been holding these Puff On The Patio events across the country and it is becoming something of a trend. They feature pairings of hand-rolled cigars, cocktails, wines, scotch, and excellent food for an all inclusive price of $115. Yep, this includes also tax and gratuity. Not a bad deal at all for the cigar, food, and wine aficionado.
Smoking on food establishment patios will be banned in Los Angeles next year, so eat a fine steak and smoke a fine cigar at a great restaurant while you still can!
Join us as we step out on the patio for great food, chilled cocktails and exquisite cigars.

After Home Invasion Robbery, Police Discover Marijuana Growing Operation At Woodland Hills Home
Call me crazy, but if your marijuana growing business gets robbed I think you just eat the loss and don’t bother calling the police.
“Officer, they beat us up and stole our drugs!”
WOODLAND HILLS – A man was in custody today on suspicion of growing marijuana inside his Woodland Hills residence after he called police to report a home invasion robbery.
Police were also searching for two men in their 20s who broke into the home, beat the residents and took cash from them.
The robbery occurred around 9:15 p.m. Monday in the 22000 block of Mulholland Drive, said Sgt. Jeff Collada of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Topanga Station.
“We believe this all stems from the narcotics activity in the residence,” Sgt. Thomas Mason of the Topanga Station said this morning.
The resident who was robbed “was arrested after they found approximately 50 plants” in the residence, Mason said. “There was lighting, hydroponics, ventilation — the usual set-up.”
The residential neighborhood is west of the junction with Topanga Canyon Boulevard and south of the Ventura (101) Freeway.
Collada urged anyone with information about the case to call LAPD Topanga Station detectives at 818-756-4820.

Happy Pi Day! Don’t Forget About The Key Lime Pie At Morton’s!
As you might remember, I went to Morton’s Power Hour for the very first time last Thursday. I liked it so much, that I went back on Friday! I love the atmosphere in there. It’s full of people having a good time and unwinding, which is perfect for a Friday evening. I fulfilled by goal of checking out the Key Lime Pie in advance of the National Pi Day special (today!) and I can honestly report that it is awesome. For $3.14 you can’t go wrong, people. I hope you can make it over there today to check it out. I ended up having dinner at Morton’s, so I took my slice of pie to-go and savored it at home later.
But, let’s face it, any trip to Morton’s would be incomplete without some meat. I have been yearning to try the $15 Morton’s Prime Burger for quite some time and this was my opportunity. When it was brought to me at the bar, the couple next to me remarked, “Wow. That is an insane burger.” Yes. It is. It’s an awe inspiring sight to behold, I must admit. I got mine configured with sauteed onions, mushrooms, Swiss cheese, and of course, rare. Dazzling.
This was probably one of the best burgers I’ve had in a long while. Absolutely mouth watering. The fries were great, too. And, I just love the atmosphere at Morton’s. Grab a friend and check it out tonight!

Jay Leno Sighting Today On Topanga Canyon Blvd In Woodland Hills
I was driving back from Santa Monica today. I enjoy taking Topanga Canyon Blvd back whenever I go “over the hill.” I stopped at an “Estate Sale” on Topanga Canyon Blvd just north of Mulholland Drive and when I was leaving Jay Leno drove by me in some wacky antique car. As many of you know he is a car nut and pretty active in car events here in the San Fernando Valley. Can anyone identify the car for me? These pictures are a little bit larger than I normally post for some added detail.
Update: Thanks to Kris for sniffing out the car information, seems like it is a 1915 Hispano-Suiza Aero Engine Car. See this video to learn more:

The Porsche Panamera Is One Hot Ride
This past misty Saturday I had to take my car in to Auto Gallery for it’s 15,000 mile service. So, as is my custom, I browsed the showroom at check out the Porsches on display. I must say, the 30-something year old guy in me as well as the kid in me, is quite smitten with the Porsche Panamera. It looks to be 400 horsepower of four-door joy. I also bought myself some scrambled eggs from the hot bar at the Whole Foods next door and ate them in the outdoor cafe area. Councilman Dennis Zine walked by. Spooky.
I leave you with some pictures of this marvelous car. According to Porsche.com the Panamera S starts at $89,800. Enjoy.
