And what tax breaks, if any, will they receive to locate here?

Response to Gail Lund: As a newly designated “Enterprise Zone”, which Zine fought hard for, Costco’s tax breaks, credits, deductions and incentives include: hiring credits, sales & use tax credits, expense and interest deductions, DWP rate discount, sewer facility hookup payment plans, Work Opportunity Tax Credit, and the biggest offender – REDUCED parking requirements. Thanks to Zine, Warner Center’s traffic will be even more F’ed up.

Hiring Credit Example: Up to $37,440 over a 5-year period per each qualified employee can be claimed by an Enterprise Zone business as a tax credit. An employee can qualify under any one of 13 different categories.

Bottom line: Good for Costco and all Enterprise Zoners, but a LOT LESS TAX $$$$. Any little bit of tax $ generated will be parlayed over to L.A. and not make it to the Valley anyway.
