This will only create more traffic, and more criminals.

As evidenced by my previous posts on the matter, I’m actually very happy that Costco will be opening at this location.

I do, however, find it funny that there are plans for an “upscale hotel” somewhere on the same block as Costco. Just where I want to stay and spend my vacation dollars! Think of all the expensive dinners you can skip by eating at the Costco food court! =)

Why would Costco bring more criminals? Traffic, yes, but criminals?

Like Jason, I’m not unhappy about the Costco; rotisserie chickens for all!

I have gone to Costcos in Hawaii, Westlake, Canoga Park, even the 909 and never found traffic (or the oft-cited mysterious ‘criminals’) to be any more of a problem than at any other retail store. The parking lot at the Topanga Ralph’s is FAR worse on both counts. Personally I can’t wait for this thing to open so that I don’t have to schlep to the rather blighted location in Canoga Park. Build build build!

300 Jobs and tax revenue!!! Way to go Zine you did your job. As far as a seedy element, there is no way that it can be any worse than the Yankee Doodles drunk scum and the bums that hang out at the vacant Black Angus. For the serial whiners out there shut up. The land has been zoned the same way for over 25 years. Also if you want a huge park buy the land, if you don’t like costco than don’t go

This is awesome news. If it is as good as the Westlake or La Quinta Costco’s it will be a welcome addition to the community. When do they break ground?

For those against this development remember what is there right now. Absolutely fuck all…. It is a gravel lot with abandoned businesses. This is a MASSIVE upgrade.

  7. Zine’s latest newsletter states:

“There has been some concern regarding my comment stating that Costco is a done deal. What I meant by that is that Westfield secured a deal with Costco to bring a store to their new Village project. What is not a done deal by any means are the planning specifics, including traffic mitigation, architectural details, and environment impacts, which is why we now need your input to determine the community’s needs.”

So for those who have issues with the Costco you should get involved. If your concerned about traffic this is the time to voice your opinion.

It appears that several people are working to put together a Town Hall Meeting with Councilman Zine to address the publics concerns about this project. Tentative dates are Sept 1 and Sept 18. No locations given as of yet. There appears to be as much confusion on this meeting as there is about the project.

    Jason,

Talking about criminals, LAPD has to staff an officer 7 days a week at the Topanga Mall to handle all the shoplifters. So with your thinking, they should get rid of the mall also.

Sean – how are the La Quinta and Westlake Costcos different? I haven’t
    been to either.

Jeez, this Costco will be located in the regional shopping and working center of the entire west SFV, and people are still complaining. Would you rather travel to the Roscoe location?
Then shut up. This is where it always belonged. Just making sure the ingress and egress are well planned is the only remaining point to discuss, and Costco wants it to work well, more than any resident. They want your shopping experience to be as good as it can be.
I just wish they would put a drive-thru lane on the building so I could pick up a roti chicken without having to go into the store itself!!!

    Carter,

That’s an awesome idea. A drive thru for pizza and hot dogs would be awesome also.

This is good for Woodland Hills. Our own Costco. Now all the lovely people who live in Woodland Hills, will not have to travel out of Woodland Hills to buy our wine. Cheers! to this project and all of us.
