Don’t Worry, I’m Not Dead

Written by Girard on June 7, 2010 - 0 Comments
Categories: General Administration

Hello folks, sorry I’ve been a little bit under the radar for the last 10 days or so.  After the Memorial Day weekend, which I took off to relax, I had to begin moving (I’m still in Woodland Hills, don’t worry!) for a few days.

Sadly, I have been without meaningful and reliable Internet in my off hours, but that is gong to change on Wednesday and I will be back in the saddle.

You should check out the recent comments to various blog posts, as I just approved some interesting ones including:

Vicky writes in to tell us about the guy who got shot in front of Best Buy’s kids.

Courtney Conoscenti (also known as murdered porn star Damien Michaels’ “fiance”) drops in a comment that she is pregnant with his baby.

Dave writes in to give me some Kudos for lighting a fire under LAPD Topanga Station’s ass regarding Nixle. Thanks Dave!

Wow, first LA.Eater.com picked up my story about The Stand introducing breakfast, and now LA.Curbed.com featured by story about nefarious LAPD putting out the word about door-to-door salesmen.  Sweet!  Thanks Curbed!

A New Look For Hills Of Woodland

Written by Girard on January 1, 2010 - 0 Comments

I switched over to a new theme/design for Hills of Woodland today because the old one didn’t work correctly in Apple’s Safari Browser or Google Chrome.  I’ll be tweaking it and fine tuning it for a few more days.  Carry on.

How To Personalize Your Avatar on HillsOfWoodland.com

Written by Girard on October 29, 2009 - 0 Comments

I am very pleased that so many people are making comments on the blog!  Some of you might want to be able to personalize the little picture that appears next to your comments.  It’s very easy!  You have to go to a site called Gravatar.com.  This is a service that allows one centrally located avatar to be used any time you comment on anyone’s WordPress blog.  It’s pretty sweet.  You just create an account with the e-mail address you use for your blog commenting, upload a picture, and you are done!  Enjoy.

It’s so easy, even a caveman can do it!

I’ve been busy with work since Saturday so I’ve got a bunch of stuff to put online over the next couple of days in order to catch up.  Readers have been very good about commenting on stories, sending me e-mail comments and tips, and also posting on our Facebook page.  Thanks for your contributions!

In response to our best burger in Woodland Hills post, Michael K. writes on Facebook:

Would love the answer to that question. It definitely used to be the ‘Wimpy’ burger at Gorikee. Why oh why did it have to go? (sniff)

And “The Man From Tallahassee” writes in:

I had the cheeseburger at Kate’s (Mantilini) last week.  It’s mighty tasty juicy big crisp bun with beer battered fries

In response to my article about the prevalence of the Po Po in Woodland Hills over the weekend, Cheryl D. writes on Facebook:

When are there NOT traffic stops? The police have been relentless with ticketing for the last 6 months or so. I’m all for patrolling every now and then but it seems that they’re trying to building up the state’s budget, one ticket at a time. I wish more resources would go into neighborhood patrolling against robberies, car break-ins, etc. which has been so rampant lately!

It looks like Cheryl’s comments were right on point, with the arrest of two burgling degenerates over the weekend.  And Michael K., I never did make it over to Gorikee and now I am very sad that I will never be able to try the ‘Wimpy.’  :(
