Cool, I Turned My BlackBerry into a GreenBerry

Alert! This has nothing to do with Woodland Hills! But I turned my Blackberry into a GreenBerry with parts I bought off EBay from Hong Kong! I even changed the little clicky scroll wheel and bezel to green! Sweet!  Maybe you’ll spot me around town as I stalk out the Woodland Hills news with my sparkly green phone.  Ok, I think I need to go watch football or something to man up after this goofy post.

Hills of Woodland’s One Month Anniversary!

Written by Girard on October 23, 2009 - 0 Comments
Categories: General Administration

Today marks the one month anniversary of the site and I think we’re off to a good start.  I really appreciate everyone’s participation – your comments being posted, e-mailed tips, etc. are really a big part of what will ultimately make this blog as good as it can be.  I also really would like local business owners and community members to e-mail me to keep me abreast of any news or events you may have, new products and services, etc. etc.

Remember to tell a friend or neighbor about the site, and also the “Share This” link under a story is a quick and easy way to e-mail it to a friend or even post it on your Facebook page (a million other places).

There are close to 80,000 people in Woodland Hills and I will not rest until each one of them is chronically and dysfunctionally addicted to reading this site every day.

You can always e-mail me at contact@hillsofwoodland.com.

I’d lke to thank all the readers who have been visiting the site in this, our first week of existence! I’ve added several enhancements to the site today.  Firstly, all posts will be syndicated to Tweets on Twitter, so if you have Twitter please follow us to always be notified about new posts.

Also, you’ll now see “Share This” under every post so you can easily e-mail posts to your friends or share them on various social media sites.

Also, there is now a list in the sidebar of posts by popularity.

Still working out a few glitches, but hopefully more great and interesting things to come.

Mom and Dad Save The World Poster

Mom and Dad Save The World Poster

Hello there friends, my nom de plume is Girard.  No, I’m not French, but as some of you may know Girard was the original name of the area now known as Woodland Hills, in “California’s beautiful San Fernando Valley” – thanks to Bill Murray for adding that phrase to my vernacular from Ghostbusters 2.

I’ve had this Blog idea in my head for a long time now, and finally it’s come to fruition.  Its name is derived from the 1992 Jon Lovitz failed career vehicle film “Mom and Dad Save the World” in which Lovitz’s “Todd Spengo” character refers to Jeffrey and Marge (aka “Mom and Dad”) as being from “The Hills of Woodland.”  An obvious choice for a site name, of course.  Well, that and WoodlandHills.com was already taken.  I’ll be posting about anything and everything that I can think of pertinent to life here in one of the the the west valley’s finer enclaves, with plenty of quirky insight and interesting pictures, to be sure.

Please feel free to sign up and post comments and insights, as you see fit.
