Urban Outfitters Coming To Westfield Topanga, As Well As Others
While I was at Westfield Topanga today to check out “The Vampire Diaries” cast appearance at Hot Topic, I had the good fortune of meeting the mall’s marketing director Alexandra DeCicco. She answered a few questions I had about new stores coming into the mall, and gave me the 411 on some others that I didn’t know about.
Urban Outfitters will be replacing Pottery Barn, which closed in January. It is due to open in May. Alexandra says they are hiring, and interested parties should check out UrbanOutfitters.com for details.
I’ve noticed many people coming to site looking for information about when Anthropologie will be open. Alexandra informed me they are scheduled to open in April.
Chico’s, a womenswear company, will be moving to a new location just across from it’s current location. They will be closed Monday for the move and reopen on Wednesday (Feb 17) in the new location.
Teavana should be opening in the next couple of months, and Alexandra says the very popular surf & skatewear retailer Tilly’s is also coming to Westfield Topanga at a date TBD.

Anthropologie Coming To Westfield Topanga Plaza
I believe I noticed this last time I was at the mall, but for some reason didn’t blog it. After a long period of dormancy, the space on the first floor of the mall that was formerly The Farm will become Anthropologie sometime later this year.
Anthropologie is a pretty cool store for people with large disposible incomes and others that just like to browse. The Farm at The Grove does gangbusters business. The one at this mall, not so much, hence why it is gone.
Update: Anthropologie should be opening in April 2010.

Crate & Barrel Year End Sale Draws Huge Morning Crowd In Woodland Hills
For some insane and unknown reason I was driving around town at 8:50AM this morning when I noticed huge lines at the front and back entrances to Crate & Barrel. After a quick phone call to the store, I learned they are having a big sale on all seasonal merchandise (50% off). Also, when I got home I was able to check my e-mail and see this:
I’m glad to see there are so many other C&B fans in Woodland Hills!

What Woodland Hills Businesses Offer Kickbacks For Buying Gift Cards?
This practice recently caught my attention, and I must say I’ve very excited about it. Apparently, some company’s are offering perks, kickbacks, and incentives to buyers of gift cards. I was hoping my readers my help me put together a list. I found a couple on my own.
From The Cheesecake Factory’s Twitter account (@cheesecake):
For every $25 Gift Card u purchase in our restaurants, u receive a card redeemable 4 a FREE slice of chzcake! Details: http://bit.ly/8VCQzq
Maggiano’s is also offering a great kickback:
Looking for the perfect gift this holiday season? Receive a $20 Bonus Card for every $100 in Maggiano’s Gift Cards purchased!
Also, in a separate special Maggiano’s (@maggianos on Twitter) is offering a $10 coupon to those who join their ‘e-club’ – here’s the link to that.
Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse, is offering the same deal as Maggiano’s, $20 for every $100 spent. See details here.
Given that Outback Steakhouse owns both Fleming’s and adjacent Roy’s Hawaiian Fusion in Woodland Hills, Roy’s is also offering the same deal.
Corner Bakery Cafe advertises a $5 bonus gift card for every $25 in gift card purchases on their website.
Ruth’s Chris is offering a significantly less financially enticing kickback:
With the holiday season just around the corner, Ruth’s Chris can help make gift giving even more rewarding. For a limited time, you’ll receive 10% back in bonus cards* for every gift purchase of $250 or more. An unforgettable experience is the perfect gift for friends, family, and colleagues. If you’d like to get these cards in time for your holiday gift giving deadlines, I suggest stopping into the store or restaurant and purchasing them there (when possible). E-mail me, or post a comment if you know of others.

Parking Reserved For Mothers With Strollers? Now That’s Just Silly!
This morning I had to make an emergency trip to Target (at Westfield Topanga) to buy a vacuum. Is it just me or have vacuums become completely disposible? When I got there are 8:30AM most of the spaces right by the entrance were full, granted the vast majority of the parking lot was empty. However, the best 3 spaces by the door were marked as being “Reserved For Mothers With Strollers.”
So, needless to say I revolted against this nonsense and parked in the space. I know those mothers with strollers have been through such adversity in their lives that they need special primo parking spaces, but hey, I’m a lazy and selfish. Society, be damned! Okay, this post is silly. I will admit it.

Lamborghini Boutique Opened By Auto Gallery Owner in Westfield Topanga Mall
Apparently it’s only the second one in existence, the other being in Beijing, China. Also brought up in the article is that the Auto Gallery’s Audi Dealership is temporarily relocated inside the Westfield Topanga Mall while the previous site is undergoing new construction. This, I did not know, as I had figured the Porsche dealership was saddling some of the load. And, since there are Audis on display there, too, they probably are.
The prestigious San Fernando Valley Business Journal (yes, I am kidding) writes:
It’s a match made in luxury retail heaven, according to Tony Schwartz, who opened an Automobili Lamborghini fashion boutique – the second in the world – next to his Audi show room at the Westfield Topanga mall in Canoga Park. The combination of luxury cars and high-end fashion, flanked by Neiman Marcus and name brands such as Tiffany & Co., and Louis Vuitton in the mall’s luxury wing, will prove to be successful even in the current financial climate, he believes.
“Being in this very high-end mall next to all these great stores is really a match made for us, and it’s just an opportunity we couldn’t resist,” said Schwartz, who owns a number of car dealerships including a Ferrari Maserati dealership in Calabasas and a Porsche Audi dealership in Woodland Hills, part of the Auto Gallery company, which he runs with partner Harrison Gray.
The Collezione Automobili Lamborghini store will offer everything from T-shirts and hats and small items like key chains and wallets, all the way up to expensive leather coats and designer shoes, he said.
And while people don’t normally shop for a $250,000 – $400,000 car in a clothing boutique, the store will also display three pre-owned Lamborghinis.
“To be in the mall and have the ability to display cars and have a boutique in the same location seemed like a perfect combination – one complements the other – and hopefully that combination is going to be very, very successful,” he said.
The boutique, which celebrated its grand opening with a fashion show and reception Dec.2, is an opportunity for Lamborghini to extend its brand outside its core business, said Stephan Winkelmann, president and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini.
Although Lamborghini has several distribution channels for its clothing and merchandise, this will be the second retail space devoted solely to the Collezione Automobili Lamborghini in the world.
The first Automobili Lamborghini boutique opened in Beijing in November, he said.

Got My Free Tote At Cost Plus World Market In Woodland Hills On Saturday!
Well, this holiday weekend I had some ambitious plans to get up at 4AM like a maniac to check out some Black Friday sales. However, when the time arrived I decided that looking at the inside of my eyelids would be more fun.
Needless to say, by the time I made it to a couple of places like The Home Depot (in West Hills) all of the good deals were sold out. Late Friday evening, however, I got an e-mail from Cost Plus World Market letting me know that the first 200 customers Saturday morning at 9AM would get a free reusable tote bag and 15% off of whatever would fit in it (sadly excluding booze).
I figured that by Saturday morning all of the hoopla surrounding Black Friday would be over, and the lines would be minimal. So, I got up at 8:50AM and headed over to Cost Plus. I guessed correctly, and there were no crazy lines. I was able to get my free tote and pick up a few goodies. I particularly like the specialty bar soaps that Cost Plus carries, as well as their chocolates, and holiday cookies.
The reusable bag is actually pretty nice, so hopefully I can come up with some environmentally conscientious use for it!
