Milwaukee Brewers Release Soup’s Owner Jeff Suppan
MILWAUKEE — The Brewers made the most costly cut in franchise history on Monday when they released increasingly ineffective right-hander Jeff Suppan with more than $10 million left on his contract.
Suppan, 0-2 with a 7.84 ERA this season in two starts and 13 relief outings, mostly in mop-up duty, was in the final season of a four-year, $42 million deal that was the richest in club history when he signed it on Christmas Eve 2006. Suppan’s 2010 salary was $12.5 million, and he’s also due a $2 million buyout of his $12.75 million club option for 2011.
“I think we all wanted to try to extend this as long as we could because of our respect for Jeff and what he’s done for the organization and the kind of person he is,” Brewers general manager Doug Melvin said. “He’s one of the classiest guys I’ve been associated with. In the end, it does come down to performance.”
Suppan, 35, is expected to seek a chance to start with another Major League team. He did not participate in interviews on Monday but did release a statement through the team.
“I want to thank [Brewers principal owner] Mark Attanasio and Doug Melvin for all they have done for my family and me, especially how they handled this situation,” it read. “I’ve played with a number of organizations and the Brewers are one of the classiest.
“When I signed in 2007, I was committed to winning and to this day I still am. Nobody is more disappointed with how things have turned out. I enjoyed my time here in Milwaukee, as both a player and a member of the community. As such, I will continue my involvement with the [Brewers Community Foundation] for the remainder of the 2010 season. My commitment to this cause and the people it serves is unwavering.”

Warrant’s Jani Lane Arrested This Evening In Woodland Hills

Looks like local resident and chronic mess Jani Lane is in trouble with the law again.
LAPD arrested Lane in Woodland Hills, CA this evening.
Police sources tell us Lane was driving a black Infiniti sedan when he allegedly hit a parked car. Officers arrived on the scene and gave Lane a field sobriety test — we’re told he did not do well and was arrested. Lane’s car is pretty mangled, but there were no injuries reported.
According to sources, Lane blew more than twice the legal limit of .08 when officers gave him a breathalyzer test at the police station.
Lane pleaded no contest to misdemeanor DUI in July 2009. A hit-and-run charge was dropped as part of that plea deal, and the judge put him on probation for three years.
Bonus fact: We’re told Jani was arrested today by the same cop who arrested him last summer. Go figure.

Jesse James Mistress/Homewrecker Brigitte Daguerre Of Woodland Hills Claims She’s Not a Homewrecker
Apparently, one of Jesse James “mistresses” is a woman named Brigitte Daguerre of Woodland Hills.

Brigitte Daguerre has spoken out about her relationship with Jesse James – despite promising to maintain a vow of silence.
The 43-year-old model revealed how she met Sandra Bullock’s husband at his burger joint and bonded with him over a love of cars, motorbikes and clothes.
But she hit back at critics who have branded her a ‘home wrecker’ – and claimed she did not realise James was married until it was too late.
“I think it’s very unfair to call any woman a home wrecker in that situation because the only one who can wreck the home situation is the married person. It’s their responsibility,” she said.
“I wasn’t sure if he was married or not. I really didn’t know what the situation was. I decided to be curious and see what happened and where it took me.
“When I was uncomfortable and realized it wasn’t the right situation for me I stopped and stayed home – simple as that.”

Woodland Hills Resident And Former Warrant Frontman Jani Lane In Legal Trouble
It’s funny because I was once with a friend of mine at Ralphs on Topanga Canyon Blvd & Ventura Blvd when he pointed this guy out to me. His quote, “That guy’s a mess.” I’m told he is a frequent shopper at that Ralphs, along with Michael Clarke Duncan who I’ve seen there numerous times. I’ve also seen Duncan at The Baker and Whole Foods. I’ve also seen Lou Diamond Phillips at Ralphs a couple of times. Okay, now I’m babbling.
Former Warrant frontman Jani Lane was a no-show for two recent court appearances, and now there’s an active bench warrant out for his arrest, according to reports. Lane was scheduled to appear in a Los Angeles court on Feb. 23, a date stemming from his 2009 DUI conviction. Lane was expected to prove to the judge that he’s finished alcohol classes and community service.
But Lane was nowhere to be seen. So the judge rescheduled the hearing for Feb. 24, giving Lane a second chance before a warrant was issued. Of course, Lane didn’t make it to the rescheduled court date either. So now he’s considered a wanted man.
TMZ.com reached out to Lane’s lawyer, who claims his client’s been in the hospital and won’t be able to make it to court until next week. Lane was arrested last June after he allegedly hit a parked car in the Woodland Hills area of Los Angeles. He was detained after refusing to submit to a sobriety test and pled no contest to one count of misdemeanor DUI a month later.
A month before his arrest, Lane was on ‘The Johnny Dare Morning Show’ and discussed his path to sobriety, saying, “It’s just a matter of deciding you’re done, in my opinion. I mean, that probably oversimplifies it, but really — really and truly — you have to go, ‘You know what? I’m done with this. I don’t like feeling like this, I don’t like living like this.’ And it’s also nice to get the creativity back, which is impossible to flow when you’re unconscious.”

Walt Disney’s Grandson Patrick Disney Miller Arrested In Woodland Hills
Last night my Blackberry was blowing up with Yahoo! News alerts about Walt Disney’s Grandson Patrick Disney Miller getting arrested at his home in Woodland Hills.
Patrick Disney Miller, grandson of the late Walt Disney, has been arrested on suspicion of illegal gun possession, authorities said Thursday.
Miller, 42, was taken into custody about 5:30 a.m. Wednesday at his home in Woodland Hills, said Officer Rosario Herrera of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations unit.
Miller was booked for “possession of a firearm by a felon” and selling ammunition, Herrera said. Information on Miller’s felony background was not immediately known.
The District Attorney’s office filed a felony warrant against Miller on Monday alleging possession of ammunition, said Jane Robison of the DA’s office. Investigators served the warrant and arrested Miller.
According to the sheriff’s department, Miller was released late Wednesday night, and his next court appearance was scheduled for Dec. 31 in Van Nuys Superior Court, Div. 100.
Patrick Disney Miller, grandson of the late Walt Disney, was arrested early today on suspicion of illegal gun possession, police said.
Miller, 42, was taken into custody about 5:30 a.m. at his home in Woodland Hills, said Officer Karen Rayner of the Los Angeles Police Department.
“An LAPD gun unit was there to serve a search-and-arrest warrant,” Rayner said.
Miller was booked at the LAPD’s Valley jail in Van Nuys for investigation of possession of a firearm by a felon and selling ammunition or reloaded ammunition for a handgun. Miller is being held in lieu of $70,000 bail, Rayner said.
Miller is the youngest (and probably most screwed up) son of Walt Disney’s eldest daughter, Diane Marie Disney.

LeAnn Rimes Wished Me A Happy Thanksgiving!
I stopped by Whole Foods this morning where, after picking up a vegetable, I turned to see none other than LeAnn Rimes standing 14 inches behind me! I summoned some courage and said, “I don’t mean to be awkward but I had to say ‘Hi.’ I love the way you sing ‘How Do I Live.’ She said, “Thank you” and “Happy Thanksgiving” and walked away.
I guess she must be either living in, or spending a lot of time in Woodland Hills! Cool!

Barry Manilow Of Woodland Hills Donates $100k To LAUSD For Instruments
Okay, people make fun of Barry Manilow but I’ll tell you what – I’m a fan! Manilow, who is apparently a resident of Woodland Hills, donated $100,000 to the Los Angeles Unified School District for the purchase of instruments. That rocks – pardon the pun!
Legendary vocalist Barry Manilow has donated $100,000 to the Los Angeles Unified School District, and is touted on the LAUSD website for his generosity. In a front page greeting titled ‘Thank you Mr. Manilow’, Superintendent Ramon C. Cortines thanks Mr. Manilow for the donation, which will go to purchase “clarinets, flutes, saxophones, trumpets, trombones and other instruments”.
Manilow, of Woodland Hills CA, made news among Ron Paul supporters when it was noted that he donated $2300 to Ron Paul’s presidential campaign in 2007. Manilow also donated to four Democractic presidential contenders Obama, Clinton, Biden and Edwards.
Cortines notes on the LAUSD website that Manilow “is determined to make sure that our students continue to receive that kind of instruction despite round after round of state budget cuts”.
