Roy’s Announces Winter Prix Fixe Menu
It looks like dineLA is coming a little early, and lasting all Winter long at Roy’s Hawaiian Fusion. In an e-mail sent out this past week, they announced a $35 per person prix fixe menu that will last presumably throughout the entire winter, as no other expiration date was given.
A quick glance at the dineLA site confirmed my suspicion that it’s the same food offering as the dineLA Winter 2010 event. However, that will be $34 per person.
Winter is finally here, and we’re celebrating this beautiful new season with our indulgent 3-course Winter Prix Fixe. We’ve brought together a host of fresh, savory ingredients to create amazing new preparations inspired by the weather outside. Three decadent courses for just $35; it’s one of the ways we’re helping you stay warm this winter.
And the menu:

Save Money With Friday’s Give Me More Stripes Customer Loyalty Program, And A Damn Fine Pork Chop
Back in November I signed up for TGI Friday’s customer loyal program Give Me More Stripes. It’s probably one of the best customer loyalty programs around. Essentially you get 1 point for every dollar you spend, and once you spend $100 you get a free $8 coupon. But wait, there’s more. You also get a free appetizer coupon just for signing up. You can do so online, or at the restaurant, and it takes a week or so for you to get your card in the mail.
In addition, sometimes they send you coupons ‘just because.’ For instance, over the Christmas holiday I received a coupon for a free appetizer. They also periodically send coupons for free desserts and other items. The best part is everything happens by e-mail. They send you your rewards and other coupons, you print them out and take them to the restaurant, and enjoy the savings. Over the past 2 months I’ve already enjoyed 3 free appetizers and 2 $8.00 off coupons. And also, it seems like January is a double points month, which really amplifies your savings.
I’ve always been a fan of pork chops, but most restaurants really don’t have them. Usually steakhouses do, but when I’m at a steakhouse, I order a steak. Thankfully, about a year ago I discovered the wonderful Pepper-Crusted Pork Chop at Friday’s. It’s on their “Right Portion, Right Price” menu which makes it about $10. It’s just a great, great tasting pork chop. I’ve polished off quite a few of these, and if you’re a pork chop fan I suggest you check it out. The mashed potatoes are also exceptional!
Pepper-Crusted Pork Chop
Our bone-in pork chop is seasoned with pastrami-pepper seasoning, with pastrami. Pepper seasoning grilled to perfection and topped with brown gravy. Served with crispy beer-battered onion rings and creamy mashed potatoes.
TGI Friday’s is located at 5919 Canoga Avenue in Woodland Hills, and is celebrating it’s 30th Anniversary at that location!

Crate & Barrel Year End Sale Draws Huge Morning Crowd In Woodland Hills
For some insane and unknown reason I was driving around town at 8:50AM this morning when I noticed huge lines at the front and back entrances to Crate & Barrel. After a quick phone call to the store, I learned they are having a big sale on all seasonal merchandise (50% off). Also, when I got home I was able to check my e-mail and see this:
I’m glad to see there are so many other C&B fans in Woodland Hills!

A Healthy Hump Day At Whole Foods In Woodland Hills
As per yesterday’s post, I dropped by Whole Foods this evening for some hot bar action. Our Whole Foods’ salad/bar and hot bar is small by comparison to some of chains larger stores. If you ever have a chance to check out the one on Lincoln Blvd in Venice, I highly suggest you do. It will blow your mind.
That being said, I snapped the above shot of the promotional sign, encouraging one and all to have a healthy hump day – back by popular demand. I also noticed that they’ve expanded the meat-based entree offerings. I used to jokingly call this the ‘high carb bar’ – however, it looks like they’re working on that.
Oh, and I also picked up a package of their Caribbean Fruit & Nut Mix. It’s awesome, and one of my guilty (or guiltless?) pleasures. It’s full of wonderful fruits and nuts, including the heavenly Brazil Nut. Yes!

Whole Foods Woodland Hills Brings Back The $5.99/lb Hot Bar/Salad Bar – Possibly For Good!
Cheryl D. commented last week:
I went to Whole Foods today (December 16th), and they’re back to offering $5.99/lb on Wednesdays! I don’t know for how long though!
While this brought much teary eyed excitement to me, I wanted to wait to post it until I had time to either stop by and verify the dates, see it on their Twitter (@wfwoodlandhills), or call up Whole Foods and ask. Well, today I called up an was pleasantly surprised to learn that ‘hopefully’ this will be an indefinite, A/K/A, permanent special price every Wednesday.
All I can say is “wow” – this must have been an extremely successful pricing promotion for Whole Foods. It’s nice to see them hustling for some business.
