Interrupted Burglary In West Hills Nets Five Arrests For LAPD

Written by Girard on May 25, 2010 - 1 Comment
Categories: Crime

Many of you observed and were possibly inconvenienced by the insane amount of police activity in West Hills yesterday afternoon/evening, but it looks like there was a big payoff for it.  LAPD Topanga Area SLO Brent Rygh took the time to write me this morning to let my readers know what happened.

Police responded to a call for service of burglary suspects in the area of 6400 Bobbyboyar Ave.  Officers were able to immediately locate and detain one suspect.  Officers closed off the surrounding streets to set up a perimeter around the area and search for a second suspect.  A second suspect was captured inside the perimeter.  Rygh explained that they ultimately connected these two suspects to 3 additional suspects that were stopped a few blocks away.   A total of 5 suspects were arrested and discovered to be in possession of property from several burglaries in the area.

Obviously, LAPD’s warnings to be vigilant about the security of your home and vehicles needs to be heeded because degenerates like these guys are clearly on the prowl in our area.

Thanks to Brent Rygh and other Topanga Area officers for their hard work and a special thanks to he and others who are clearly working diligently to keep the public informed and to get the Nixle alerts back on track.

Unattended Bag At Bus Stop Turns Out To Be Nothing. Ya Think?

Who are the people that phone in this crap? I miss the good old days when if you found a lost bag at the bus stop you checked it for valuables then tossed it in the bushes.  I guess I’m old fashioned.

Daily News writes:

The intersection of Burbank Boulevard and Owensmouth Avenue in Woodland Hills was reopened at about 11:30 a.m. Monday after LAPD’s bomb squad checked out a possible suspicious package near the corner, authorities said.

The incident closed down the intersection near the Warner Gateway corporate park, barring workers from reaching or leaving their offices for almost 2 hours. Eastbound Burbank Boulevard traffic was rerouted to Topanga Canyon Boulevard.

LAPD’s bomb squad examined an unattended bag that had been left near a bus stop at the intersection’s southeast corner, said LAPD spokesman Kevin Maiberger. Police got the call about the bag at 9:43 a.m. and reopened the intersection at 11:35 a.m., he said.

Passenger Causes Havok On MTA Bus In Woodland Hills

Written by Girard on March 1, 2010 - 4 Comments

Of course this happened at the nexus of the degenerate universe here in Woodland Hills, the corner of Topanga Canyon Blvd and Ventura Blvd. Follow the link to ABC7 for some video coverage.

ABC7 writes:

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. (KABC) — LAPD officers responded to a call of a L.A. County Sheriff’s deputy involved in a fight with a suspect in Woodland Hills.

LAPD officers responded to a call of an L.A. County Sheriff’s deputy involved in a fight with a suspect in Woodland Hills.

A suspect was taken in custody and an ambulance was requested at the scene.

The fight occurred near the intersection of Ventura Blvd. and N. Topanga Canyon Blvd.

Eastbound traffic on Ventura Blvd. was slow, but westbound traffic was at a standstill due to multiple police cars and fire engines on scene.

The suspect was subdued by at least six to eight officers, then strapped face-down to a gurney and loaded onto an ambulance. The suspect could be seen repeatedly banging his head on the gurney.

Traffic was expected to be affected till at least 6 p.m.

The suspect was confirmed as a bus passenger. MTA bus service was affected on the Ventura Blvd. route.

According to MTA spokesman Jose Ubaldo, MTA bus line 161 was traveling from Canoga Park to Thousand Oaks at 4:57 p.m. A male passenger inside the bus was reportedly harassing a female patron. The bus driver stopped the bus and called for deputy assistance.

The suspect gave the deputy a hard time when he arrived. The deputy called for more assistance. During a scuffle, someone used pepper-spray inside the bus, and the bus driver was hit, according to Ubaldo.

The suspect was treated by paramedics on scene and transported to a hospital.

The bus was cleared of passengers due to lingering pepper-spray inside.
